Hi I'm Mikaeel!

I’m formally trained as an engineer, but really, I’m just a curious nerd who never quite grew out of taking things apart to see what’s inside. These days, I spend my time shooting lasers at things and calling it my master’s research (using free-space optics to help bridge the digital divide) - sounds like sci-fi but it's really all about people, connecting them and bringing the world closer together.

Beyond that, I’m fascinated by technology and how it weaves into human life - how we shape it, and how it shapes us in return. You’ll usually find me tinkering with something: building circuit boards, experimenting with cloud and IoT projects, or poking at whatever strange new idea has caught my attention. I'll do anything if it's interesting and just about everything is interesting to me; especially if I can break it and put it back together in a way it was never meant to be.

This is just a little blog I put up so I can write about random projects and other cool stuff; or maybe it was really just an excuse to play around with setting up a website :) It's also an attempt to get me to actually document all the things I do in a way that's worth sharing and get more comfortable with writing for a public audience. If it's a bit sparse at the moment it's only because I'm busy working on things and adding to the ever growing writing backlog ;)
